Ultraportable Macbook and Multitouch Trackpad Rumored

macbookpro0420061024.jpeg

MacRumors has reported that the rumored ultraportable macbook, which has high hopes for, will have a multitouch track pad, and external optical. The optical makes sense, and is gladly welcomed. The Multitouch Trackpad is a bit interesting. Macbooks currently use a simple multitouch trackpad for two finger scrolling. Maybe Leopard updates will allow scrolling features like the iPhone.

iTouch’s First VoIP Call

The geniuses at TouchMods have been busy preparing a VoIP application for the iPod Touch, and they released a video of the first successful call using their software. The application is suppose to be ready by New Year’s Day, so look out for that. Watch the video, and see the call being made. If you remember the post I did on their microphone mod, which can be ordered now directly from them, you can use it with this application. Other than that, all you have to do is wait for it to be released. Apple probably won’t be too happy with this. So sorry, Apple.

iPhone Goes Platinum, Literally

iphoneplat.jpg

The iPhone has just gone platinum, literally. From the precious metal enthusiasts at Goldstriker International, you can now buy a platinum-coated iPhone for a mere $2,230. While most of us aren’t interested of buying a iPhone, let alone buying a more scratchable version, it’s still the best way to shut someone up with an original. Well, that or either mugging him to take his, and laughing at him for losing it.

Apple Savings This Weekend

The deals Apple has already offered leading to holiday savings are over. Apple gear usually doesn’t see a big discount either, but it’s nice to save a few bucks than none. MacMall is running a big sale at the moment that combines savings and rebates for some noteworthy deals. There are plenty of deals on MacBooks, MBPs, and iMacs that are worth looking through if you have no access to student discounts. The sale ends December 10, 8am PT. Start looking.

iPod Touch Mic Dongle

touchmic.jpg

A very serious, and cool, and big project of the iPod Touch includes the homemade mic dongle for VoIP, that snuggly fits into the dock connector itself. Touch Mods have been documenting the process themselves over the last couple weeks, and they are finally ready to take orders. It’s small, black, and looks professionally made. They don’t have a price listed as of now, but recent posts say you shouldn’t “hesitate too much, and ask for your Mic. Be one of the very firsts who will make the Touch-4-VoIP become a reality!”
